ONGOING PROJECTS & SITUATIONAL NOTES

- CONNECTICUT -

Wilton: Final paving on Route 7, Route 33 (Ridgefield Rd.) and the adjacent roads, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, June 15, 2009. Work will begin on Route 7, just north of Olmstead Hill Rd., and progress south, ending at Wolpit Road. The work is scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8:00pm to 6:00am each day, weather permitting; it is anticipated that it will take several weeks to complete the paving. Motorists should expect delays, as there will be alternating one-way traffic and intermittent traffic stoppages.

Darien: The west sidewalk (West Avenue – Station Side) under the Metro-North Railroad Bridge, on Route 1 in Darien is closed to construct a portion of the new railroad bridge until further notice. During the construction period the east sidewalk (Tokeneke Road Side) under the bridge will be opened for pedestrian access. Pedestrians will need to follow the posted signs during this time. Pedestrians walking north on the west sidewalk of Route 1 must cross Route 1 using the crosswalk located at Center Street to pass underneath the Railroad Bridge. Pedestrians walking south on the west sidewalk of Route 1 must cross Route 1 using the crosswalk located at West Avenue to pass underneath the Railroad Bridge. Pedestrians are not permitted to walk in the roadway underneath the Railroad Bridge. Please allow for extra time to reach the train station and board your train. Commuters will be permitted to access the railroad facilities and residences, but no pedestrian traffic will be allowed to use the west sidewalk below the bridge. The work is part of an ongoing project to replace bridges and catenary on the New Haven Line between South Norwalk and Stamford.
