Gas prices and the cost of commuting keep rising. Here's a sample comparison of commute costs in New York for a 55-mile round trip. Estimates are based on a 21-day work month, and the IRS mileage allowance of 50.5¢ mile (includes gas, maintenance, wear and tear, insurance, etc.).
